Podcast 101: The What, The How, The Why and The Who.

Every now and again I’ll mention #ProudToBeKinky Podcast on this blog, which for anyone who doesn’t know is a podcast that I host with my sexy friend Bakji. The ethos of the podcast is to support and encourage the kinky and the kink curious as they journey into their kink community or start trying their kinks at home. We aim to keep things positive, fun and non-judgemental.

We have had a combination of guests episodes and episodes with just Bakji and I, of late we have moved into sharing details of out FemDom scenes as the main content of our episodes. Which we hope helps people to see that no matter your kinks you can have fun and play safely without the need for ‘one true wayism’ or venturing into stereotypes that don’t really do it for you.

That covers in a nutshell what #ProudToBeKinky is but the bigger question is … what the hell is a podcast? Yep, it was brought to my attention at the end of last year that it’s all well and good me pimping the podcast on my blog, but perhaps I’m overlooking the fact that not everyone knows what a podcast is or how to access them, or for that matter why they’d even want to.

For those of you who are looking to try new things in 2019 perhaps my Podcast 101 post can point you in the right direction and you can discover a whole host of shows that will get you excited, informed, entertained and maybe even aroused! Yes, they are that good they will turn you on!

[#SoSS] Round-Ups and Reflections on 2018

During the week I shared my Top 20 Lovelies of 2018. Which was a ShareOurShit of sorts, I certainly hope it was viewed as such and had lots of you clicking on those fabulous links contained within it. In that post, I mentioned some other bloggers had done round-up posts but didn’t actually share them, so I’d like to that now. As well as sharing some thoughts from other bloggers as they reflect on 2018 and set their sights on what 2019 might have in store for them.

Marie Rebel has done both a ‘Top 20 of ‘18’ and a more reflective post ‘Reflecting & Planning’. The second of which will speak to many of us especially as we head into a new year of blogging and may be making plans of our own.

Floss’ Top 20 Lovelies 2018

The plan was to publish as last weeks #ShareOurShitSaturday post, but I underestimated how long it might take. Then I figured it was perfect for Masturbation Monday because let’s be honest a lot of the content I am about to share has made me want to do just that and not just on Monday’s. Once again though I really wanted to do this post right and vanilla work meant I just couldn’t quite squeeze in completely the final few flourishes to this post. Which means you get it as a Christmas Day treat.

If you find yourself on this list thank you for making me smile, and in some cases possibly shed a tear. The sex blogging community is about so much more than smut and seduction, it’s about sharing our thoughts about life, building friendships and supporting and encouraging each other in a variety of ways. That isn’t to say though that your presence here doesn’t also mean I’ve perved over or used your smut for my own debauched methods of entertainment because while that isn’t the only thing I enjoy about the sex blogging community, it definitely is one of them.

Some of my wonderful blogging pals have done their own round-ups, one of whom is May More and I will confess I have unashamedly stolen her method for listing my Top 20. Which means they will be listed according to where they placed on MollysDailyKiss Top 100 Sex Blogs 2018 list. Apart from the 6 who weren’t on that list, but we shall get to why of that later.

Now though I won’t waffle any longer and keep you waiting, here are my Top 20 Bloggers of 2018.

[Smut Marathon] You say “Goodbye” and I say “Hello, hello, hello”.

As many of you will know I entered the Smut Marathon 2018, which has no come to an end. We are now able to sign up for the Smut Marathon 2019 and our wonderful host Marie has confirmed that the minimum of 20 people have now signed up. It is now a case of the more the merrier. I’ll be honest and say I entered on a whim for 2018. I saw someone mention figured it might be a good way to further my writing and my blog and went for it. I had very little knowledge about what it was going to entail.

What it entailed was me writing the following pieces …

Fluid

My body melts under his touch, he is the flame, I am the wax, I am fluid beneath him, I drip, drip, drip as he burns me with his desire

The Disciple

The hot water cascades over his body, cleansing him as his ritual begins. Once dry he adorns himself with his symbols of submission. I am their disciple. I bear witness to their passion, as I am baptised by the glory of their love.

That was it for me. Including titles, I wrote 112 words for the Smut Marathon. I was out after Round 2. My aim had been to make it halfway and honestly I thought I had that in the bag when it started out, which makes the saying ‘pride comes before a fall’ exceptionally relevant here. Leaving when I did though was the best thing that could have happened to me and I want to share the why of that with you and if my thinking encourages more of us to enter in 2019 then that is a bonus.

I am a Mother raising a son. This isn’t often an important factor in my posts but it is today because I want to discuss the world in which I am raising him. As most of you will know by now as of December 17th Tumblr are banning all adult content. Facebook have been disallowing posts like Sexual subcultures are collateral damage in Tumblr’s ban on all adult content  by Zahara Stardust that even dare to discuss what the Tumblr issue means to various communities and more and more people are being pushed into the shadows in an attempt to silence the voices of people who talk loud and proud about sex.

Now before I go on, some will say this is a is about minors in pornographic content (I’m sorry I can’t bring myself to type the more colloquial phrasing of that), sex trafficking and Tumblr’s altruistic desire to protect the victims of those things. Which skates of the fact that users have had issues with that kind of content for years and it is Tumblr’s inability to deal with posts that advocate that kind of content which has led to this blanket ban. Of course, I do not want anyone being able to access that kind of content, but if we are naive enough to think protecting minors is the sole reason behind Tumblr’s decision we would only be lying to ourselves.

[Community] Don’t Be Like Gollum

There’s a chance I will get shot down in flames for this post and I’m sat here weighing up the pros and cons of having my rant and I’ve decided I’m willing to lose the readers that disagree.  

Without further ado here are the points I’d like to discuss:

• Being pretentious doesn’t improve your skill level
• Being like Gollum with your knowledge? That sucks!
• Assuming makes an ass out of you and, well, you!

I’m going to use rope as my example to lay out the reason behind my thinking. Make no mistake though I love rope bondage and I have had some amazing experiences within the rope community and know some truly awesome people who would cite rope as their main kink and passion in life.

I sounded far more prudish than I had planned to but I had to admit to being slightly horrified by the scene before me.

It’s been a whole month since I did a #SoSS post! Mostly because I’ve been knackered and busy with new work and I’ll be totally honest blogging, both writing and reading, had to take a back seat for me to function like a normal human! BUT I’m feeling a bit more with it now, caffeine, vitamins and embracing naps has worked wonders. So without further ado let’s share some downright sexy blog posts from my fellow bloggers.

Stephen King Stole My Title …

… I wanted to call this post ‘On Writing‘. I shan’t dwell on that though. However, if you haven’t read that particular title of Stephen King’s I highly recommend it.

Back to the post at hand and what perfect inspiration this week’s Wicked Wednesday prompt is for me. The blog has been quiet the last week or so. New working hours have been well and truly kicking my ass, there has been a lot of daytime snoozing to make sure my physical and mental health don’t slip. I have had to accept that for the moment the blog isn’t the most important thing in life right now. That doesn’t mean regular service won’t resume though, it will and the reason is that I love writing and when I saw the Wicked Wednesday prompt I knew it was the perfect blog post to kick start my writing again.

For me, writing has been an outlet of emotions since my teens. My first love when it came to producing writing was poetry. I can’t recall my exact age but I was around twelve I think when I read ‘Love’s Philosophy’ by Percy Bysshe Shelley. That single poem felt to me like the purest and most wonderful thing ever written. It sent me on a journey to discover a poem I loved more than that one. To this day I have never found one, that poem remains my all-time favourite. It moves something inside me everytime I read it and I never tire of it.
